MT Forum is a forum plugin for Movable Type.
I have been using Movable Type as a forum for over 3 years. Finally, I have taken the time to package it all up so that it can be released as a plugin. Actually, most of it has been completely re-written to include more features and for better performance.
Sneak Preview: Live Demo of MT Forum
The first version of MT Forum will be released soon. For now, you can give it a try on the MT4 Test Blog. MT Forum has the familiar look and feel of online discussion forums. You can register for an account, or sign-in with OpenID, Vox, etc. Or post without authenticating (admins decide who can post). Try out the demo by following the link below, create some new topics and reply to existing topics:
Please note that some of the features shown in the demo are provided by other plugins from MT Hacks, such as Visitor Stats Pro, User Profiles Pro, and Comment Titles. These plugins are not required to use MT Forum, but certain features (such as topic view counts, user profile pages, and comment titles) will only be available if you have these plugins installed. The Entry Post plugin is required.
Please reply to this entry with feedback, or post on the demo forums!
Stay tuned for more info and the upcoming release of MT Forum.

This looks really great. I think the lack of a proper forum plugin has been one of the few downsides i've found with MT.
I am really excited to give it a try when its up and running.
Great work!

This looks very nice. I'm curious, how does it overlap with and differ from MT Community Solutions, which also seems to be an MT-based forum system. Or it CS not actually based on MT, but just another product from Six Apart that integrates with MT?
Very interesting!

Hi, great addition to MT, It's stylish and beautiful. I recently started my blog on Wordpress, but I must admit I feel attracted from this.
This adds more value to the recent GPLd MT, maybe MT will return to its splendor, since VPS solution are becoming more popular and cgi can be easily activated.
Keep up the good work!

Wow! This is great. Obviously not released yet. Is there a new estimated release date? A very exciting addition. Great work!

This could solve one of my problems: In the best of all possible worlds, I would like to be able to give a specific person entry create/edit/delete and comment post/approve/edit/delete rights, but only for one specific category.
Since that doesn't appear to be possible in MT4, allowing that person to run everything in a forum might be another solution.
So I have a few questions:
1. MT4 is fully Unicode-compliant. Are this and EntryPost also?
2. Can I assign full admin rights to someone for this forum WITHOUT giving them full admin rights for my whole MT4 installation?
3. Can I assign full admin rights to someone for a sub-forum WITHOUT giving them full admin rights for all fora, or for my whole MT4 installation?
I guess that's enough for now...
Thanks!
